Turning Points Webquest - Your Task

Your journey will begin by exploring the most important Turning Points of Global History You must only use the textbook or the classroom wiki. In this webquest you will complete:.

Step #1

  • Creating a profile of each Turning Point - Use a separate profile Datasheet for each turning point. Please complete them in order since one Turning Point may have caused another.
  • Complete the chart with the detailed information below:

When

  • When did the event take place? (may be more than one date/year or between 2 years)
    • Ex. 19th Century, 1492, 1500s, 2001-Present

Where

  • Where did the event take place? (may be more than one place)
    • Ex. It happened in Asia & Europe. Happened in the Middle East and the city of Jerusalem.

Who

  • Who were the main participants? (may be a group or individual people)
    • Ex. Roman Catholic Church, Martin Luther

What

  • What happened and what was it? (Explain in detail)
    • Ex. The Crusades was a holy war between the Muslims and the Christians for control of Jerusalem and the Holy Land.

Why (Causes)

  • Why did this event happen? What were the causes?
    • Ex. The cause of the Dark Ages was the Fall of the Roman Empire in 476CE. It happened because of political

corruption, barbarian invasions, famine & disease, empire was split in two.

Results (Outcomes)

  • What were the Results, Effects, or Outcomes of the event?
    • Ex. The Renaissance caused the rebirth of Roman & Greek culture in Europe.

Turning Point Connection

  • Why is it considered a Turning Point?
    • Ex. The Renaissance started the modern age of Western Civilization

Vocabulary

  • Five (5) Vocabulary words and definitions for each turning point. (Must be from our vocabulary list)
    • Ex. Protestant Reformation was a movement by Martin Luther in 1517 to protest and reform the Roman

Catholic Church.

Analyzing Strategy

  • Pick one (1) of the following analyzing strategies for each turning point and write several sentences analyzing the topic using the strategy.

  • Was the event positive or negative for the culture/nation or civilization? What about the effect on another culture/nation or civilization? If so, explain it?

  • Can you compare or contrast this event to another event? If so, explain which one, and how?
